Teacher Training Workshop for SIS-PIK: Building Effective Communication For Positive Teaching Environment

On July 24th, 2025, we were honored to collaborate with Singapore School (SIS) – PIK for a teacher training workshop on “Building Effective Communication For Positive Teaching Environment”.
Teachers are one of the main pillars of a child’s education at school. Whether working collaboratively with other teachers or interacting with students and parents, effective communication skills are essential in supporting teachers’ roles and their impacts.
Specifically designed to meet their needs, this training workshop focused on equipping SIS-PIK teachers about what effective communication is, why it’s essential, and how it can be practiced daily in the teaching environment.
This teacher training workshop involved several interactive sessions where they got to learn and practice. During the first session, our psychologists Asaelia Aleeza, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Psi., Psikolog, gave a psychoeducation seminar about the foundations of effective communication, and assertiveness and its impact on work climate and psychological safety. In this seminar, the teachers also learned about the importance of a support system for them as teachers. This was followed by a practical workshop led by our psychologist Rinda A’anisah, M.Psi., Psikolog, who invited our teachers to participate in a self-assessment quiz – helping them identify their personal communication styles. After learning the techniques of effective communication, the teachers had the opportunity to apply them through small-group role plays and reflections. For the final activity, the teachers worked in groups for a case study discussion and created a poster to visualize their ideas. The training workshop ended with each group presenting their poster and ideas while practicing effective communication and reflecting on the learning.
Attended by 100 SIS-PIK teachers, we are glad to see their enthusiasm to learn and participate actively during the workshop. We hope that through this workshop, they gain meaningful insights into effective communication and gradually develop assertive communication skills with their colleagues to support their essential roles as educators.
