Inside The Discovery Space Heart & Mind Edition – A Day to Feel, Express, and Grow
We all feel emotions, whether we’re children or adults. But because emotions are invisible, we often overlook how important it is to understand and manage them. This can be especially challenging for our little children whose language skills are still developing or for young adults who are in a season when life responsibilities get more complex. That’s why OURI created The Discovery Space: Heart & Mind Edition for them to explore the feelings in their hearts and the thoughts in their minds.
On Saturday, July 5, 2025, OURI held its very first event, featuring three sessions specially tailored for different age groups. Take a sneak peek to our sessions:
Session 1: Little Explorers (Ages 3–5 & Parents)
Our child psychologists, Ghianina Armand, BSc., MSc., M.Psi., Psikolog and Diella Gracia Martauli, M.A., M.Psi., Psikolog guided toddlers participants to explore emotions like happiness, sadness, and anger through storytelling and crafts — including heartwarming “What Makes Me Happy” drawings.
Session 2: Emotion Explorers (Ages 6–9 & Parents)
In this session, children were guided by art therapist Fauzia Ramadhani, S.Psi., M.A., AThR and psychologists Asaelia Aleeza, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Psi, Psikolog and Rinda A’anisah, S.Psi, M.Psi, Psikolog, to explore emotional awareness through the ‘Zone of Emotion’ and a fun ‘Feelings Mystery Box Quest.’ They practiced expressing emotions through interactive activities such as puzzles, role-play, and coloring emotion crystals.
Session 3: Mindful Journey (Ages 18–29)
Together with our psychologists Asaelia Aleeza, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Psi, Psikolog and Rinda A’anisah, S.Psi, M.Psi, Psikolog, young adults explored the difference between Eustress (positive stress) and Distress (negative stress), and the impacts on their body and mind. They practiced mindfulness techniques like 4-7-8 breathing and “Safe Space Imagery,” then created personal “safe space” artwork to anchor a sense of calm in their daily lives.
We are genuinely grateful to welcome 17 families and 11 young adults, whose presence brought warmth, curiosity, and hope into the space. It was their openness to feel and grow that reminded us why this work matters. Through this event, we hope our participants gained valuable insights and practical tools to build emotional awareness, as a meaningful step to foster growth in their well-being journey.
A heartfelt thank you to our partners — The Self Hug, Quppa, Monddesonne, and KiN Space — for making this event possible.
