A Month of Discovery: OURI x Carita Nara Kids Workshop Series at Plataran
The journey toward mindfulness and growth can take many different paths. For young children who are still learning to express themselves, or for those who are just beginning to understand the world around them, this process can be quite challenging. To support that growth, OURI partnered with Carita Nara and Plataran Group Indonesia to create a space where children could explore, learn, and connect—fostering their psychological development and resilience through multi-sensory experiences and play-based psychoeducation.
Through this partnership, we successfully held four events across several Plataran branches throughout Jakarta: Patio by Plataran, Plataran Menteng, Hutan Kota by Plataran Senayan, and Plataran Dharmawangsa. Incorporating Plataran’s locally rooted visual identity and heritage, our programs integrate traditional elements—such as stories, music, and animals—to introduce children to their roots, while teaching them skills for resilience.
The four events we held collectively are the following:
1. Little Chefs, Mindful Bites at Plataran Patio

We began our collaboration on Saturday, October 11, 2025, for a mindful eating experience. Children engaged in a hands-on sensory activity where they created their own pizzas, and mindfully eating their pizza creation with their parents. Guided by our child psychologist Ghianina Armand, BSc., MSc., M.Psi., Psikolog, our certified art therapist Fauzia Ramadhani, S.Psi., MA., AThR, and a Plataran chef, the session encouraged children to explore mindfulness through their senses – seeing, feeling, smelling and tasting the ingredients that go into a pizza. They also had the opportunity to watch their pizzas bake in the oven. This hands-on activity helped them learn about and appreciate both the components of their food and the process of making it as part of mindful eating.
During a mindful eating session led by Ms. Fauzia, children and parents were invited to slow down, enjoy each bite, and notice the flavors, textures, and their moods while eating. The day concluded with parents and children creating a joint agreement to help families continue practicing mindful habits at home.
2. Harmony in Rhythm: Traditional Music Discovery at Plataran Menteng
On Saturday, October 18th, we arranged an event at Plataran Menteng, in collaboration with Maestro in Training. This time, music (featuring traditional instruments and songs), became our way of teaching children about emotions.
Children explored traditional Indonesian instruments, such as sape from Kalimantan, seruling Batak, gendang Jawa, and angklung. Children learned about sounds, rhythms, and the cultural history of each traditional instrument.
During the Music and Mindfulness session with Ms. Ghia, children were taught how different tones such as minor or major chords can portray emotions like sadness and happiness. They also practiced breathing in sync with musical rhythm. The day continued with a teamwork activity where the children performed tari bambu together, as well as taking turns to play and experience each instrument. The whole session was guided using traditional music.

3. Jungle Yoga for Kids & Parents at Plataran Senayan

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, we held a Kids and Parents Jungle Yoga session at the fresh, breezy and nature-infused Plataran Senayan Hutan Kota – where families could stretch, move, and bond through playful physical activity. Guided by our child psychologist Diella Gracia, S.Psi., M.A., M.Psi., Psikolog and yoga teacher, Ms. Kyra, the session invited both children and parents to explore yoga inspired by animals and nature, helping children develop motor skills, body awareness, and emotional balance in a fun and non-competitive environment.
Participants learned to recognize emotions symbolized by animals, such as bravery, joy, calmness, and focus while practicing mindful breathing. Through playful movements—roaring like lions, playing like monkeys, and stomping like chimpanzees—children learned to explore and express their emotions. Children and parents were encouraged to create a family agreement on how to manage negative emotions, encouraging mindfulness and connection beyond the activity itself. The day ended with a mom-and-child yoga session, fostering connection and bonding.
4. Animal Claymaking: Finding My Superpower at Plataran Dharmawangsa
We concluded our collaboration at Plataran Dharmawangsa with an animal claymaking session. On Sunday, October 26, 2025, guided by our art therapist, Ms. Fauzia, the activity invited children to explore creativity and emotions by crafting animals from clay. Each child chose an animal that represented their own strengths or “superpower.”
The session began with an interactive storytelling activity featuring Indonesian animals, where children learned about problem-solving and overcoming challenges. Afterward, they shaped their chosen animals from clay, with parents joining to assist and connect through the process. This creative and culturally rooted experience helped children discover their unique strengths, express emotions, and build confidence through art and imagination.

Through this collaboration, OURI together with Carita Nara and Plataran Group Indonesia aimed to create a space that felt warm, playful, and culturally meaningful for families. Each event offered children and parents the chance to connect, express, and learn together through simple and everyday experiences. From cooking and music to yoga and art, these activities showed that mindfulness can begin in small moments through curiosity, creativity, and shared presence.
We hope that through these workshops, children and families who participated can gain meaningful discoveries and experiences that enrich their children’s development. Because every child’s growth and well-being will always be at the heart of what we do.
