EMBRACE: Building Resilience & Warmth in the Journey of Supporting Others for Treestori Trainers
On November 16, 2025, in celebration of Treestori’s anniversary, OURI Mind Care and Support was honored to present an interactive seminar titled “EMBRACE: Building Resilience & Warmth in the Journey of Supporting.”
Led by our psychologist, Diella Gracia Martauli, S.Psi., M.A., M.Psi., Psikolog, this seminar was thoughtfully designed for Treestori trainers who work closely with individuals with special needs. The session created a reflective and supportive space to strengthen emotional regulation, stress management, deepen child developmental understanding of special needs individuals, and cultivate a balance between empathy and professionalism in daily practice.
Understanding Work Stress in Supporting Special Needs Children
Supporting individuals with special needs is deeply meaningful work—yet it also carries emotional demands. Trainers often navigate complex behaviors, high expectations, and the responsibility of creating a safe learning environment.
Through a Mini Talk session, our child psychologist Ms. Diella explained how stress develops and affects our emotional response mechanism, and explained signs of emotional exhaustion and common challenges when working with special needs individualschildren. The trainers were guided to recognize early signs of burnout and understand that caring for their own mental well-being is not a luxury, but a professional responsibility. Because we believe that giving consistent, compassionate care cannot be separated from being emotionally regulated and supported on the inside first.
Practicing Emotional Regulation & Practical Self-Care
Beyond theory, the seminar focused on actionable tools. During the Self-Regulation Practice Session, participants learned simple breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and brief emotional self-checks that they apply to help them regulate emotions and find relaxation in between work challenges.
These practical strategies help trainers pause, recalibrate, and respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. Over time, consistent self-regulation builds resilience—the ability to stay warm and present without becoming overwhelmed.
Deepening Understanding of Developmental Needs
The seminar also included psychoeducation on developmental topics, including its relation to conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Down Syndrome. Participants are guided to distinguish between signs of developmentally appropriate behaviors and signs when further attention or professional help may be required.
Using a neurodiversity-based approach, Ms. Diella encouraged trainers to view differences not as deficits, but as natural variations in how individuals think, learn, and interact with the world. With the hope that this perspective fosters more supportive learning environments where each individual with special needs can feel seen and valued.
Through discussion and an engaging Q&A session, participants had the time to reflect and summarize the materials they learned throughout the seminar and were given the chance to ask questions or share their real-life experiences and challenges from the field to our psychologist Ms. Diella.
Growing with Resilience and Compassion
EMBRACE was more than a seminar—it was a reminder that supporting others begins with supporting ourselves. By equipping trainers with practical stress regulation techniques, developmental knowledge, and a neurodiversity-based approach, we hope this session strengthens both their personal well-being and professional impact.
At OURI Mind Care and Support, we believe that resilient adults nurture resilient children. We are committed to creating safe spaces for learning, reflection, and growth for every individual through their uniqueness, including individuals with special needs. Because every person’s well-being should be valued and cared for.
