Discovering Your Career Path: OURI Founders Story at British School Jakarta Career Day
On January 22, 2026, Co-Founders, Ghianina Armand, BSc., MSc., M.Psi., Psikolog and Asaelia Aleeza, BSc., MSc., M.Psi., Psikolog, were invited to share their journey as psychologists and entrepreneurs at Future Ready Career Day hosted by the British School Jakarta (BSJ).
High school years is often a phase of life is filled with big questions, like:
What major should I choose?
Which university fits me best?
What career path should I aim for?
The pressure to “figure everything out” and making the right decision at 16 or 17 years old can feel confusing and overwhelming.
Through this Career Day session, our Co-Founders hoped to offer something grounding: a realistic picture of how navigating a career journey can actually look like, and the reassurance that there is no single perfect path, and the lessons they can apply for their journey.
What Does a Psychologist Actually Do?
To open the session, our Co-Founders invited students to brainstorm together: “What do you think psychologists actually do?”
Before sharing their Founders’ Story, they explored the students’ initial perceptions of psychology as a career—highlighting that psychology is not only about “reading minds,” but about understanding human behavior, emotions, relationships, and growth.
Asaelia’s Story: From Uncertainty to Purpose

Co-Founder Asaelia began by sharing something many students resonated with—she wasn’t always sure about her path.
Even during her undergraduate years in psychology, she still had questions about which direction to take. One of her turning points came when she co-founded Ubah Stigma with a friend who shared the same vision of increasing mental health awareness in Indonesia. Through this experience, she discovered a deeper interest in clinical psychology.
Her journey continued with pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Sciences in the UK and completing her professional psychology degree in Indonesia.
Throughout every chapter, she emphasized one key process: continuously re-evaluating her purpose and values. She allowed herself to reflect, explore, and grow—getting closer to understanding who she is and how she wants to shape her career.
Ghianina’s Story: When Exploration Leads to Passion

Co-Founder Ghianina shared a different version of the journey.
She started by mentioning how majoring in psychology wasn’t actually her first choice. What started as curiosity gradually became genuine interest in understanding the human mind and behavior. Along the way, she shared how she navigated family expectations and subtle pressure to specialize in areas that did not align with her true passion.
Through continuous exploration and honest self-reflection, she became more firm with her interest in child development and mental health. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Child Development in the UK, which eventually shaped her path toward becoming a certified child clinical psychologist in Indonesia.
Her story highlighted an important message for young adults that sometimes your path begins with uncertainty—but clarity grows through exploration.
Where Their Paths Crossed: The Beginning of OURI
Their individual journeys eventually intersected, leading them to build a shared vision as clinical psychologists and co-founders. That vision became OURI Mind Care and Support—a psychology center committed to personalized, compassionate mental health services in Indonesia.
During the session, they also shared what a typical workday looks like today—balancing their roles as leaders and practicing psychologists.
Activity: “Think and Listen Like A Psychologist”
To make the session more experiential, students were invited to participate in hands-on activities:
- Case analysis discussions in small groups, viewing real-life situations from a psychological perspective
- Listening practice in pairs, where students reflected, summarized, and asked open-ended questions to respond to their friend concerns—without giving advice
This exercise gave students a glimpse into some of the most essential skills needed as a psychologist.
Psychology Career Pathways in Indonesia
In the next session, our Co-Founders presented a visual roadmap of psychology career pathways in Indonesia. They explained the different educational routes, professional requirements, and specializations—helping students understand what becoming a psychologist in Indonesia truly involves.
But the most important takeaway was this:
There is no single “perfect” path.
Every career journey is shaped by curiosity, values, opportunities, and sometimes unexpected detours. Both of our Founders encouraged the students to explore and discover their own career journey that reflects their true purpose, values, and vision.

A Message for Young Adults Navigating Career Anxiety
To close the presentation, students were given reflection prompts to help them realign their thoughts and absorb the message of the day.
Psychologist Asaelia, who is also a BSJ alumna, offered a heartfelt closing reassurance that uncertainty is normal and exploration is healthy.
She ended with a message we believe many young adults need to hear:
“You don’t need to decide now — but curiosity is a great place to start.”
Through what our Founders shared that day, we hope the students allow themselves to find clarity in their career journey at their own pace—and bloom into the most authentic, unique version of themselves both professionally and personally.
